Though Grounded Healing’s roots are in Pilsen, we continuously seek organizations city-wide that share our mission. You can find more information about these organizations and how to get involved below.
Community Connections
In the beginning of 2024, we collected medication for SO HAPPY YOU'RE HERE's medication drive. Medication and supplies were distributed to migrants in need. Collectively, we feel passionately about showing up for the migrant community and addressing unmet needs. We love connecting with and supporting individuals and shops in the community doing this work.
For the start of the 2023 school year, Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health held a back to school supply drive. Our clinicians were able to spend quality time with one another collecting supplies and stuffing backpacks. Backpacks were distributed to kids on the south and west sides of Chicago. Keep a look out for additional drives from this organization!
September 2022, we raised money to support the Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We were excited to participate in their Chicagoland Walk at Montrose Harbor. It was great to see the number of organizations participating in efforts to raise awareness on suicide and suicide prevention.
July 2022, we excitedly engaged in a Youth led tour of the North Lawndale neighborhood. We learned about the neighborhood’s vibrant history and the current experiences of the community’s young people. The price of admission for this local youth led tour goes directly to the tour guides themselves to benefit their personal growth. Not only did we enjoy the tour and the guides, we also appreciated the opportunity to connect with a community we continue to serve.
June 2022, we attended a Toss the Stigma event supporting suicide awareness. This event, which partnered with NAMI Chicago, helped cultivate conversations around mental health in order to minimize stigma. We were able to meet people and talk about how to move mental health conversations forward in the coming year. We look forward to supporting Toss the Stigma and their future events and continuing conversations on suicidality.
May 2022, our therapists completed the 2nd annual “Walk and Run with Us” in honor of mental health awareness. We are incredibly passionate about this cause, as well as the organization behind it.
In addition to connecting with individuals from all areas of the city, we raised awareness and donations supporting CHHMH’s free therapy program. We participate in the program providing free therapy services and are excited to continue to help it grow.
Dr. Collazo had the pleasure of speaking with Daytime Chicago about having conversations on gender and sexuality with young people.
She later returned to speak with Daytime Chicago on how to understand and manage anxiety.
